Factory Media Centre is located within a shared community media arts space managed by Evil Empire Studios at 366 Victoria Avenue North, Hamilton ON.

We are open Monday – Friday, 12–5PM, or by appointment. You can book an appointment to visit the gallery space outside of our normal hours of operation by emailing us at info@factorymediacentre.ca. Admission to the gallery is free. All studio and equipment rentals must be booked 48 hours in advance.

Find information on accessibility and directions for entering the building below. If you have any questions or concerns about visiting our space please reach out to us at (905) 577 9191 or by email at info@factorymediacentre.ca

Directions

  • On Shaw Street heading east (away from Victoria Avenue), follow the signage for Krown Rust Control. There is a driveway next to our building leading to a small shared parking lot. At the end of the parking lot to the right there is a black door with signage for Evil Empire. Through the door is a small step down into an entry area leading to the FMC gallery space (see map below)
  • If you have any difficulties entering the building please call us at (905) 577 9191
  • We recommend entering the building through the back door entrance.

Physical Accessibility

  • Unfortunately our building is not fully wheelchair accessible at this time. Alongside Evil Empire Studios we are working towards renovations of our shared space that will allow for an easier visiting experience for all.
  • Our two main entrances (Shaw St Door and Back Door) are not wheelchair accessible, however our large event entrance on Shaw St is via a ramp. Please contact us prior to your visit of any physical accessibility needs that we can assist with.
  • Our editing and audio studios are accessible via a ramp and a short set of stairs.
  • Please alert a staff member if any spaces are difficult to navigate, FMC staff will do our best to accommodate and assist.

Washrooms

  • There are four single occupant washrooms that are shared with the rest of the building. The washrooms are accessible via a ramp however unfortunately there are no automatic doors.

Driving and Parking

  • Factory Media Centre is located within a shared community media arts hub on the corner of Victoria Avenue N. and Shaw Street. Victoria Ave. is a one-way street heading northbound.
  • There is very limited on-site parking that is shared between all residents of the building, and we strongly recommend finding parking in the surrounding area. Shaw St has free street parking available, surrounding streets have metered parking spots, and there is a paid parking lot located on Victoria Ave directly across from the building. See a map of available parking below.

Children

  • Kids are always welcome to visit the gallery or attend programming accompanied by their parents or guardians! Please note that some of our programming can sometimes contain sensitive content matter, and we encourage you to check our website for programming details or contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Filming Closures

  • Due to the nature of being within a shared media arts space, there are occasionally times where the building is used for film shoots. Due to this, Factory Media Centre will very occasionally close our gallery to the public. Updates of any closures can be found on our website landing page below the header menu, or on our Instagram and Facebook pages. If you have any concerns or questions about closures prior to your visit please contact us.
