Factory Media Centre is currently seeking an organized, efficient and enthusiastic individual for the position of Equipment Intern. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, this role requires a full or part-time student, currently enrolled in an accredited academic institution, to assist in the maintenance, organization and rental of our media art equipment. The individual will possess strong technical skills in media art and some administrative skills, with an interest in working at an artist-run media art centre.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the equipment cage, including: assisting members in rentals/facility use, organize/inspect/administer equipment, and assist with purchasing equipment.
- Proficient use of media art equipment in the documentation of art events and promotional content to highlight and inform our members regarding our equipment holdings.
- Some administrative duties, including: producing social media, inventory spreadsheets, documentation of damaged equipment, and rental contracts.
- Assistance in technical requirements to support exhibitions.
- Assistance in the preparation and instruction of technical workshops is an asset.
Qualifications:
- An educational background in art, film, or a related field. You must be a full or part-time student, currently enrolled in an accredited academic institution.
- Experience with artist-run centres and/or non-profit organizations is an asset.
- Experience in customer service is an asset.
- Must possess basic computer skills in social media and Microsoft Office, as well as, advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent technological skills in the handling, inspection and best practice use of media art equipment.
- The ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.

Factory Media Centre (FMC) is a not-for-profit artist-driven resource centre dedicated to the production and promotion of creatively diverse forms of independent films, videos, and other streaming multimedia art forms. Our mission is to develop and support a vibrant, sustainable, creative, and diverse community of members within Hamilton and its surrounding region. In addition to our mission, we also provide access to facilities, equipment, peer resources and educational initiatives to the community. Through our programming we hope to encourage the development and appreciation of all related visual art forms through an ongoing program of screenings and events.
